Dolores Park

Dolores Park
19th and Dolores St.
San Francisco, 94114

A must visit hotspot you and definitely want to bring a local with you.  Bordering the Mission and Castro District , Dolores Park, is the perfect spot on any given sunny day.  People of all kinds congregate here for a couple of beers, people watching, sunbathing, hanging out with friends, picnic, and then some.  Staring down from the very top of Dolores Park you can see past the Mission district to get a glimpse of the beautiful SF skyline that consists of the Financial District, SOMA, and the Embarcadero.  The park and the view is not the only thing that draws all the locals together.  This area breeds great food adventures and foodies from all over come here for all the restaurants from hole in the walls like Lolo's to finer dining like Foreign Cinema... each adding their own flair old n new to this part of town.  Bars and lounges are abundant here as well making it the perfect area to hang out in the sun then grab some dinner and straight to the bars.  If you love ice cream be sure to stop by BiRite creamery.  Be ready to stand in line especially on warm days like today so bring a friend because you'll be happy to have company while you wait for their famous ice cream.  You will see quite a few posts from the Mission in the future here at iChompSF.

Grab your drinks and snacks down the
block at BiRite market.
Things to know about the Mission District:
There wasn't such a mix of all kinds of people a decade ago... now there are people of all ethnic backgrounds that roam about in the Mission.  I wouldn't even dare to go because of all the drugs and gang violence back then.  If you were to ask someone in their 40's most of them would tell you they still don't go to the Mission.  Fact is... they haven't seen what it has become.  There are more and more up and coming restaurants and lounges there.  Many of which screams of culinary excellence bringing in a new era of foodies and the curious alike.  If SF is the hub of such culinary adventures... then I wouldn't be afraid to say that the Mission has become the heart of such a unique experience.  Anywhere you walk there will be something tasty for you to enjoy so I don't recommend driving.  Gotta be lucky for parking if you have the patience for it.  Also, if you are allergic to or don't like dogs, you might want avoid the park and just enjoy everything else there is to offer in the area.  So pack up your picnic blanket, put on your flip flops, grab a dozen of beer, a few snacks, some sunblock, call some friends, and make your way over to Dolores Park for a day of fun.
